Hi Mountain Drug

Aussie burgers and Ironport. Incredible food.
Posted by on June 15, 2011
For the best burgers in the state of Utah, one might expect a nice burger joint located in Salt Lake, perhaps a place like Park City, or any of the other major cities throughout the state. Amazingly, to get the state’s best burgers (an award given by more than one group, including Utah’s “Best of State” for three years), you need to travel to the small town of Kamas.

Kamas is a gateway city to the Mirror Lake scenic byway, and is set in a beautiful valley, surrounded by mountains and rivers, and is one of a few other small communities in the region. If you happen to be headed in that direction or to other places in the area, we recommend that you stop in at Hi Mountain Drug, both to pick up any needed supplies and to have a quick and delicious bite before heading out. Even if you’re not necessarily headed out there, go and eat. You won’t regret it.
We wouldn’t have known about this incredible little place, except that it was (again) recommended to us by someone. Please, if you have any places that you think everyone on earth needs to try, don’t hesitate to tell us.
The day we went was dark and gloomy, but that didn’t deter us from wanting to try some delicious burgers. It was a little cold outside, but the moment we went in the door, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming

atmosphere. This wasn’t a huge surprise, as we sort of expected that from a small town joint. We did have to chuckle to ourselves as we walked around the store, which has a pharmacy, lots of miscellaneous items that you might use in camping or the outdoors, and (of course) the grill. It seemed sort of random, but it is (as was previously mentioned) the perfect place to stop if you’re planning on heading out for some outdoor activities.

Funny signs, similar to this, are hung on the walls.

We sat down at the counter, and after looking over the menu, decided to order a couple of Aussie burgers. The burger is a pretty standard burger (hamburger patty, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.) but with a little extra something: a fried egg. We also ordered a couple of Ironports to drink. The Ironport is (according to their description) comparable to a very rich cream soda…and it was divine. As were the burgers. Everything in the burger worked in perfect unison. The meat was fresh and flavorful, and the fried egg just added a little bit of pizzaz to the already wonderful taste. Needless to say, we were incredibly satisfied. The waitress also suggested we leave with a Fresh Lime (a little lite syrup, soda water, and freshly squeezed lime juice), which we did…and again, we were not disappointed in the very least.

Aussie burgers and Ironport. Incredible food.

Since that time, we’ve already been back, and we’re looking forward to going again soon. Let us say again that if you’re even remotely close, maybe if you’re on vacation in Heber or doing some shopping in Park City or if you’re just looking to go on a scenic drive to a little town that happens to have a grill that serves up the state’s best burgers, go to Hi Mountain Drug in Kamas.
