So often we fall into the trap that Mexican food is what you get at any of the fast-food “Mexican” restaurants that dot the land. While this is what American Mexican has evolved into, it is a far cry from what might be considered truly authentic. It’s like comparing the fortune cookie to authentic Chinese food. Leslie’s Family Tree Restaurant

We stopped in to Leslie’s Family Tree Restaurant on a warm Friday afternoon, ready to appease our hungry bellies. We sat down at a long table near the front, and placed our orders, which included scones. This is important. Let us note here a couple of things: first, a lot of the places we’ve gone to here in Utah serve scones; second, we had read in numerous places that Leslie’s scones were some of the best. Mom’s Cafe is located in the city of Salina, Utah near Richfield. Whether you come in off of I-70 or you come rolling into the city on US-89, you can tell that it’s been around for quite a while (it was permanently settled in 1871*) and it serves a bit as a permanent flashback to more laid-back days.
